After work oen summer day, Mary, Michelle, and I went to treat ourselves to pedicures at TenOverTen in SoHo. This quaint, little nail salon can be easy to overlook but keep your eyes open and it can be found on the second floor of Houston & Sullivan.
Appointments can be booked in advanced online and walk ins are welcomed. The salon offers manicures, pedicures, waxing, and a number of eye treatments including eyebrow shaping and tinting. The prices here are pretty steep in comparison to other nail places in the area but if you’re into the pretty spa frills, Ten Over Ten may just be the place you’re looking for.
We opted for the signature pedicure (35 minutes for $40) and were taken back to soak our feet. I’m told that you can ask to receive your treatment at the outdoor patio but the day that we visited the salon had to have been one of the hottest and most humid days this summer so the outdoor patio wasn’t an option for us. We were seated on the sofa, dunked out feet into the round tubs, and were treated to ice cold green tea.
The signature pedicure was pretty basic. I usually like my toe nails short as they tend to grow fast and my nail technician opted to file instead of cut. Okay, fine. The massage was no more than a minute for each foot (I’d rather call it a rub down than a massage to be honest). I guess that’s fine too.. I even wore sandals to the appointment so that I wouldn’t have any issues slipping my feet into complicated shoes and messing up my newly painted toes or having to wait 30 minutes for them to dry.. but my nail technician slipped on those paper flip flops instead, which meant we had to hang out a bit longer than we anticipated to let our toesies dry. I guess on the plus side, the nail salon is really adorable and they accept credit card.
My pedicure at TenOverTen is comparible to Haven Spa‘s Mini Escape Pedicure, but the Mini Escape Pedicure will only cost you $27! I tend to get my bi-weekly pedicures at a little place in Chinatown (mani’s & pedi’s are $25) but when I’m feeling a little splurgy, I’ll go to Haven Spa for pedicures.
So will I continue going to TenOverTen? Maybe, if I’m really in the mood to splurge on a basic mani/pedi and if I’m coming from work (a lot of my favorite nail places close by the time I leave work). But with so many less expensive options in SoHo & Chinatown, those chances are pretty slim.
My review of TenOverTen’s Nail Salon in Soho!
